Like many of you, I am always looking for resources to improve my crafting skills and lettering beautifully is one of my favorites. That's why Judy Detrick's book Simply Calligraphy: A Beginner's Guide To Elegant Lettering caught my attention.
The book is clearly divided into chapters starting with basic tools to project ideas for applying your skill.
The author breaks down the anatomy of the letterform and outlines easy-to-understand exercises to master shapes, proportions, slants, strokes, curves and arches necessary to master the art of elegant lettering. It is a good place to start for the beginner and a nice refresher for someone who is already practicing the art of calligraphy. But like with any other similar resource, you need to practice to make the most of the lessons. Otherwise, it will be just another pretty book on your shelf.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
