Hello Love: A Crazy Bird Valentine

Say Happy Valentine's Day with this a Crazy Bird card!

Stamp these pieces from Bird Crazy and Crazy Things Cling stamp sets on cardstock using Ranger Dye Ink pad Black Tie.

To die cut the Crazy Things, create the following Sizzix sandwich: lay a Sizzix Accessory Standard Cutting Pad on another Sizzix Accessory Standard Magnetic Platform for Wafer Thin Dies. Lay the stamped cardstock on the Standard Cutting Pad and the corresponding Crazy Things Framelits dies blade side down on the stamped images. The strong magnets of the Magnetic Platform for Wafer Thin Dies will hold each die in place for neat and precise die cutting. Cover with the other Standard Cutting Pad and pass the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.

These are the die-cut Crazy Things pieces.

To die cut the Bird Crazy bird, create the same Sizzix sandwich as above: lay a Standard Cutting Pad on the Standard Magnetic Platform for Wafer Thin Dies. Lay the stamped cardstock on the Standard Cutting Pad and the corresponding Bird Crazy Framelits dies blade side down on the stamped images.

You'll notice that I stamped the same bird twice. That is because I want to create this bird in layers. First, we are cutting the whole bird and just his wings from the second stamped image.

Cover with the other Standard Cutting Pad and pass the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.

Repeat the exact same sandwich as above to die-cut the eyes and beak of the bird.

NOTE: Do not try to cut the wings and face of this bird in one go because your Bird Crazy Framelits dies will overlap and ruin the dies during the cutting process. So, best to take it in steps!

Here are all the pieces of the bird from Bird Crazy set.

Now is THE most fun step of this process: you get to assemble the layers to make this Crazy Bird look the part!

Use pop dots in various sizes and you still might have to cut the dots smaller to hide behind the fine die-cut lines, especially for his spectacles. For this, use a sharp non-stick pair of scissors like Tim Holtz Kushgrip scissors.

Fold a cardstock to make a 5.5" x 4.25" card.  To create an interesting backdrop for the Crazy Bird, diecut a heart trio from the Crazy Things set, out of the front flap of the card. To do this create the following Sizzix Sandwich: lay a Standard Cutting Pad on the Standard Magnetic Platform for Wafer Thin Dies. Unfold the card and lay on the Standard Cutting Pad. Lay the heart trio Crazy Things Framelits die blade side down on the front flap of the card. Cover with the other Standard Cutting Pad and pass the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.

Brush letter the sentiment 'Hello Love!' and cut out with scissors. Attach the Bird to the card and the sentiment below it.

You can now color your whole Bird, just parts of it like I did or just leave it black and white if you like.

No matter what color scheme you choose, this little bird will surely bring your valentine plenty of cheer!
