Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft & May Arts Blog Hop

is going on right now over at the Faber Castell Design Memory Craft blog. Here's my card for this hop created with May Arts ribbons and various Design Memory Craft products.

As you can see, that I'm already in a Halloween mood. I love the colors of Halloween-all the bright greens, purples, oranges, and black. When I saw the ribbons from May Arts though, I wanted to make something a little more elegant while still keeping it mixed media.
I used:
From Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft
Stamper's Big White pen
Assorted ribbons from May Arts
You can recreate my card in the following steps.

On a 5.5" x 4.25" card front, attach ribbon pieces with dry adhesive. Machine stitch to secure ribbons in place. Trim off any excess ribbons extending beyond the card with scissors.

Cut off bits of Tangerine and Licorice Gelatos with palette knife and smash them down. Put Tangerine Gelato in one spray bottle and Licorice in another. Add a little water to each bottle and shake till the Gelatos are completely dissolved creating creating liquid watercolor.

Spray the Tangerine Gelato on the card making sure not to cover the entire surface.

Rub some Chocolate Gelato on the surface of the flowers.

Spray the Licorice Gelato aiming at the center of the ribbon flowers. Dry carefully with a  heat tool. The ribbon will singe a bit and that's okay, just be careful not to burn it.

Once the surface is dry, draw polka dots with the Stamper's Big White pen using its bullet tip. Also use the palette knife to rub on some gesso along the edges of the card and a bit on the surface of the flowers.

Color a strip of cardstock with Chocolate Gelato lightly and blend with a wet brush. When dry, cut the strip into two pieces and notch the ends. Write your sentiment on it with black PITT Artist pen. Attach sentiment to card.

At this stage, it looked like my card still needed something more. So I cut out to two ribbon rosettes and colored them in the same way as before. I dried them and attached them near the sentiment along with a few rhinestones and machine stitched to finish.
So, there you are! Hope you enjoyed today's post and will use Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft products to give your ribbon projects a new look.
Thanks for stopping by :)

Welcoming Fall with Glitz Design

I made a set of fall-themed note cards for my son's teacher using various papers from Finnley, Sunshine in My Soul, and Wild & Free collections along with Triangles washi tape from Finnley collection. Even though none of these products are specifically fall-themed, their rich reds, yellows, and hints of green along with the warm grays worked perfectly to create a fall look.

Here are some closer looks.

I used:

Finnley 6 x 6 Paper Pad
Sunshine In My Soul 8 x 8 Paper Pad
Wild & Free 6 x 6 Paper Pad
Finnley Washi Tape Triangles
Others: cardstock, thread, paint, marker

Getting Inky with Glitz Design

Welcome to the Inks, Paints, & Mists week from Glitz Design! Even though Glitz doesn't make its own inks, paints, and mists, the products are really versatile to be mixed and matched with many mediums. For example, this little card I made

with one of the elements from the Finnley Collection's Bits & Pieces And Dapper Dan Collection's Giant Rhinestones mixed in with acrylic paints and threads. Here are some close-up shots.

Check out the Glitz Design blog for more inspiration :)

Roller Doodling with Glitz

LOVE the giant and mini roller doodles from Glitz Design. Here's a card using some roller doodles and rubber stamps from various Glitz Collections.

I stamped on strips of paper with the various Giant Roller Doodles with different colors of inks. I attached the strips overlapping each other to create the background of the card. I used the feather stamps to create embellishments for my card and the Finley stamp was just right for the sentiment.

Here are some close-ups

Feels Like Home with Little Yellow Bicycle

I have to admit that my studio had gotten really messy. It was really time to reorganize and put away things that I don't use all the time anymore. It takes me a long time to do it because of all the little beauties that distract me. But I have managed to box away some goodies and shelved them. Still a seriously long way to go but hoping to get there slowly but steadily. I made this layout about that process using Little Yellow Bicycle's newest release Feel Like Home. Love the little details in this collection and the warm hues along with some cooler colors like I used on my layout. Here are some close-up shots.

FLH-103 Fall Floral/Red Lace Frame
FLH-102 Love Your Neighbor/Grey Lace

FLH-304 6"x 6" Paper Pack
FLH-279 Chipboard Shapes
FLH-222 Burlap Stickers
FLH-160 Vellum Tape
FLH-135 Favorite Pieces–Stickers
FLH-134 Journaling Cards

1. Cut out an 8.5" x 11" piece from the Red Lace Frame/ Fall Floral paper leaving the frame intact for another project.
2. Trim a 5" x 5.5" piece from the Love Your Neighbor/ Grey Lace paper. Distress the edges a bit.
3. Attach your photo at about the center of this paper.
4. Attach the block to a 6" x 6" Happy Houses/ Denim Mini Check paper. Attach everything to the background leaving about 0.5" from the left and 2.25" from the top.
5. Create a cluster of embellishments around the photo using various Feels Like Home Chipboard Shapes, Vellum Tape, Burlap Sticker, Journaling Card, and Favorite Pieces Stickers.
6. Use the Favorite Pieces sticker 'Home' for the title. Layer a chipboard heart on it to add dimension.
7. Attach a 'welcome' sticker at the top of the page and a piece of vellum tape at the bottom.
8. Cut out the 'Feels Like Home' logo from the barcode strip of the 12" x 12" Red Lace Frame/ Fall Floral paper and attach it near the vellum tape at the base.
9. Journal below thw photo cluster.
10.  Cover up the photo and splatter some paints around the page to finish.
