A little sneak peek

of the Cocoa Daisy April kit...

Happy, happy kit if you ask me :)

And if you are looking for a gorgeous crafting getaway, I have one word for you: Mykonos.

In weather news, it's raining AGAIN!!! Plus, allergies gallore.

This was a crazy weekend...Ashis has been  on conference calls... actually, 3 conference calls simultaneously since Thursday... company merger, etc. He finally hung up on Sunday at 6:09 pm. Non-stop, with 2 hour breaks each day... when I asked him which call he was on himself, he said "On all three... at this point, just listening for my name... if I hear it, I respond and answer questions or give directions!" So, my role in all these... well, cook and supply food, drink, pillow, recharge phones, clean up and of course, keep kids out of the room. Om caused MUCH trouble this weekend... he was bored to not get any time with daddy and Nini got upset because Om REALLY bugged her and I'm just GLAD it's Monday!!!

news amused me :)
I like the heat and spice in my food, but there's always a new use for spices :) Versatile, to say the least!

I want to thank everyone who joined me for the "My Wish for You" workshop for Tampa Bay Scrapbooking Guild. It was fun!

A little share: I am Guest Designer for Margie Romney Aslett's The Girl's Loft.

Some week

this was!!! But before I get into details, let me THANK YOU for your support with the cover voting. Linda's layout, option # 2 won and it will be a cute cover for the next Scrapbooking Tips & Tricks. But I'll have this little souvenir to keep :)

Secondly, I APPRECIATE all of you who took time to stop by my Etsy shop this week and gave it a heart. A newbie like me can definitely use the encouragement :)
If you have any tips on how to improve things in this venture, please PLEASE tell me.

Number 3 on my list is my workshop tomorrow for Tampa Bay Scrapbooking Guild. I'm SO honored to be teaching their very first workshop. There's still time to sign up.

On Tuesday night, I had a severe allergic reaction to I don't know what. But I was puffy and itchy and could barely swallow. I caved and went to the doc Wednesday afternoon. She gave me some knock-out pills and a warning that if the swelling didn't reduce within an hour of the meds, call 911. Well, I didn't need to bother the folks at 911, but it took longer than 8 hours for things to start calming down. I'm still not myself and can use a nap. I'm still finishing the pills alongside Zyrtec and Benadryl and a lotion to soothe the itch. My taste buds have taken a hit for sure, bacause yesterday I did not like my pizza :( Why pizza, you wonder? 'Cause mama has not been able to cook!

Last but not the least, check out this Friday Guest Blogger post by Jaime Echt over at the CK blog. I love her templates. Thought you might love them too :)

So, if you have made it this far, a very happy weekend to you :)

I have finally made my first Etsy listing.
It took me a while to get here. I realized that making stuff is a tiny bit easier for me than figuring out logistics!
I'm as NERVOUS as can be... don't know why, but I am... I had almost forgotten how venturing into something new for the first time feels like...

Starting a new venture...

Nervous? Yes!!!
I'm working on opening my own little etsy shop.
I have finally made my shop banner and decided on a name, sorta figured out what I want to put in the shop bu there's much more administratives and technicalities that are taking me time. In the meantime, I'm making stuff happily :)

This is my banner...made it last night. Named it Color Happy...

it's pouring here... started last evening and we slept well.
Cloudy weather gives me migraines :( So plenty of Exedrin, Pepsi, etc. here. Looking forward to this weekend.
Before I get to bed, let me share my February monthly page for Cocoa Daisy:

Keeping this project super simple so I can keep the motivation to complete it.
Are you working on any ongoing project this year?

Right before CHA-W, I was asked to create a cover option for CK's Scrapbooking Tips and Tricks Paper Issue. I made my page, sent it in and the in-house Editors played with the three cover options. Which option makes the cover will depend on the maximum number of votes earned.

Here's a link to the options and here's what Jennafer had to say:
"I didn’t include designer names, so tell your fans which option is yours so they’ll vote for it. Feel free to shamelessly promote it."

So, mine is number 3, the green & pink one.

I'm usually not comfortable about asking people for votes. So, I will leave that decision to you.

And if you are wondering about what Scrapbooking Tips & Tricks is all about, check out Jennafer's post on the CK Blog.

An impromptu trip

to the flea market on Sunday was as fun as ever... walking by myself, digging through dusty old junk and seeing possibilities and relaxing... about 45 minutes very well spent :)

Saturday was Spring Carnival at school. we stayed there the entire time from 11 am till 2pm. The kids had a blast and so did I. FUN!!!

Got a biography of Jane Austen from the Library and it's our new shared reading. On the side, I'm reading Maya Angelou's "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings".

And Michelle, thanks for your book suggestion :) We'll check it out.

Overall, this was a very inspiring and relaxing weekend... RARE and CHERISHED!

This is what

we have been reading at bedtime this week. Nini and I took turns reading while Om listened till he fell asleep.
We finished the book last night. It was a great read. I'm learning American History bit by bit with Nini and loving it.

AmieeAya, you are ALWAYS welcome here and I don't think you are a stalker :)

It's Official

I am a gypsy :)

I did this project with the newest 7 Gypsies goodies that were VERY generously sent to me by Paula Cheney and Debbie Crouse. But the story started a little while back...

When I started scrapping, I did not know of any local scrapbook stores. I bought 19x25 Art papers at Michaels and struggled to cut them down to 8.5x11 sheets... yes, I lived under a rock and did not know anything about anything. I had no patterned papers other than stationery type stuff sold at Mike's back then.
The stickers I saw didn't quite sail my boat and I started buying home decor stencils and stamps and decoupage stuff that are typically available at a small Michaels with Wilton all over the place. I used silk flowers I separated from their stems and paint was my friend. I found a Fiskars trimmer and four decorative scissors at Sam's club and started out scrapping. One day at Michaels, I participated in a make & take and I was offered a scrapbook instructor's job at the store. 25% discount on all purchases every time in addition to pay seemed like my ticket to the Heaven.

A few months later, I met a girl called Cami who had just moved into the neighborhood and was an avid scrapbooker. We became friends and she opened my eyes to the real world of scrapbooking. She took me to Ruban Rouge, about an hour away from our neighborhood and that day we both spent beyond what we could afford...that was the first time I saw 7 Gypsies goodness with my own two mortal eyes!!!

I searched and searched the web for more of gypsy goodness and began to dream to connect with the 7 Gypsies some day in some small way. When I went to shows, I just stood near their booth in silent admiration. I mentioned this to my friend, Heidi Sonboul one day and she said I need to go talk to them...ummm, NO, I said! Not that I didn't want to, but I doubted if I ever could do that. At CHA-Winter, I stood and admired the Gypsy booth again trying hard not to draw attention to myself, when Heidi stepped in and talked me up. I was embarrassed and blushed and just wanted to become invisible by some magical power.

Then Paula spoke. She knew my work. It got easier from that point. After the show, I emailed them and they asked me if I would like to do a Guest Design slot for their blog... I said, "Yes, a thousand times, YES!"

Paula and Debbie sent me two boxes filled to the brim with stuff that I only saw in my dreams. Paula even included six batteries for the Binderie Punch she sent. I was touched deeply.

I put my heart and soul into the stacked accordion that was my first assignment. I submitted it on Sunday. Debbie asked me on Monday if I wanted to join the 7 Gypsies Creative Team. On Tuesday, I said... YES!

So, THANKS Cami, Paula, Debbie and HEIDI because I could NOT have done this without you.

One more

Cocoa Daisy layout I wanted to share. It was super simple. The papers did the trick, I just added a photo and wrote on it.

Had been working on some fun assignments and just finished up...

And was delighted to see two of my pages from my February 2010 Article "Fire and Ice" on the CK Blog.
