Feeling lazy

I broke all records and napped almost every afternoon this holiday season... did not realize I could sleep that much!!! Hope you too had a few rest breaks here and there!
Recently, I stopped by a Goodwill store... my first time. I had a great time finding old glass jars, baskets, books, etc. My most favorite find of the day was this...

I loved the cheerful color and the message... I knew it belonged to my studio, a new home for some of my paint brushes.
Today's going to be a busy day for me... a library stop, Michaels, dentist, photo kiosk for now.
Have more photos to take for a new Etsy kit I put together in between naps :)

Another simple banner

and the instructions are here.
Also wanted to share that I'm very excited that my Christmas Advent Mixed Media Art Journal Kit was featured on Etsy :)
I've brand new goodies I've been busy making and hopefully will have uploaded here by today.

Yesterday we went to visit the Tampa Museum of Art. There was one sculpture piece we loved in particular... a little boy all so happy holding two turtles in his hands...

A few days back, I spotted a Goodwill store in our area and bagged quite a few FUN finds which I hope to share with you soon.

Depending on how cold it gets this evening, we'll walk around the neighborhood to see lights.

Hope you are enjoying your holidays :)

One more...

Copyright: Scotch Brand, 3M, 2010

Used mostly scraps, left-over or long-unused embellishments and the little box in which Nini's little MP3/DVD player thing came. You can find the step-outs at the Scotch 3M website.

Another Christmas project

Okay, so I strayed from the regular red, green and white of Christmas or even the silvers and blues... but with Crate Paper's Snow Day Collection, it was way too much fun to play with non-traditional colors. Here's what I made:

It was very quick and easy and if you want the step-by-steps, check out the Crate Paper blog.

CONGRATULATIONS Ladies. Please email me at with "Blog Winner" on the subject line and don't forget to include your mailing addy.

Giveaways to me are rather bitter sweet. Love that I can touch someone through the little gift and yet sad that there are so many others that I can't. But then that's the nature of such things.
Thanks for playing along, for your interest in what we make and your kind prayers for my family (we really need them!).
Keep checking the CK Blog for giveaways every day. Also, you can still get these issues for less at the Scrap & Paper Shop if you can use this Coupon code: CKDT15 (this is good for 15% off all items in the store, and it expires 12/20/2010)

Back in town

and staying put! Paris and PACS was wonderful. I was lucky to have met Helene and her family at Issy. Sometimes it's the kindness of strangers that helps you keep going! It was so nice to meet creative and talented friends like Nathalie Kalbach, Vicki Boutin, Julie Balzer, Caroline, Linda, Safo, Isabelle and Ania.
I saw snow fall... for the first time! I've seen it before on the ground, but to see it like this was so soft, pure and gentle.
I saw the Louvre...
But did not come home to a happy situation... right now, I'm dealing with a lot of stuff that I don't deserve. Trying to preserve and protect what's most precious to me-my family! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
I'll share some artwork and photos as soon as I can.
Happy Friday!

One flat tire + a very messy desk = a very crafty day!!!

And then, next day, air was put in the flat tire with bicycle pump, so it could be dragged to the reapir shop... sort of like riding a three-legged horse!!!
And then, they fail to take out the nail (oh, the joys of driving on a road where construction never ends...ever!) because it was too far out at the edge :(
So, replace the tire... oh yeah, and then there was not a tire that would match... so a little wait which got a little longer and then a close match was put in and it still feels funny! And it cost $138.00 only!!!
Moral of the story: Nothin is perfect, there's always some good thrown in with the bad... in this case, it was my day off from driving :)
Happy weekend!

Playing with cards

I don't think of myself as a cardmaker... not that I don't make enough cards for many occasions but still, don't consider it as my passion. But yesterday I was playing with my table scraps (and boy, it's spilling over
with scraps!!!) and made a few cards... here's one:

Happy Thursday :)

My very FIRST Etsy Sale

was this morning :)

THANK YOU Barbara B. This was actually her second purchase from me. She bought my "My Wish For You" kit earlier even before I set up shop at Etsy.

So, I had been busy having fun making this journal that explores my introduction to Halloween and how I grew fond of it over the years... I loaded it with various textures. Textures together with the bold colors and elegant yet whimsical elements made it my favorite instantly and I left it out on the living room coffe table :)

Then I thought about my long-neglected Etsy shop and wondered if this could be a kit. It wasn't easy to find or replicate every little element I used in my own book-the hand stamping, misting, embossing, altering, sanding, layering and cutting tiny strips of foam tape to add dimension to layered elements... all that punching and die-cutting and stamping and cutting and stitching have my wrist hurting! But I'm happy with how it turned out... every thing is handmade and ready waiting for creative hands :)

So, we can't get a dog

or a cat or any pet that has hair :(
Nini is deathly allergic to pet hair... she struggles to breathe in homes with cats!!!
But we still wanted a dog so bad, especially Om. Nini insisted on getting retested by the allergist and this time too, she said, "NO dogs!"
So, we are back to keeping fishes... glad they could have something to love and call their own...

Super quick update

My son is still sick home. I'm sick too. I dragged myself to Nini's school general meetings twice this week. Still sending school supplies, yearly fees, etc. Keeping track of these things is stressing me out somewhat. Today, I'm trying to finish up a bunch of projects at home. Creativity keeps me alive I tell ya!

Check out the CK blog for s super quick and fun tutorial and a giveaway :)

And a page...

Have a great long weekend!

H.E.C.T.I.C. day...

It hasn't been a whole week of school and Om fell sick. He got an ear infection, congestion and a bug bite!!! He stayed home today... L.O.N.G. day... poor little boy!
My day was crazy busy too! Hence, blogging at 10.20 pm.
Before I get into bed, thought I'd share a page I did for Cocoa Daisy with the September kit Brighter Skies.
I had fun with this kit :)

Night night!

Studio reorganization

Stamps... not all, but current favorites

Stained the wood shelves yesterday...

Organized some of the ribbons as well...
More to go... officially last day of summer here today. New routine from tomorrow!

Lot of

scraps...all over the floor... scraps from ages ago hiding under something... it is overwhelming to some extent. And then there is the urge to just pick up those scraps and start playing and forget the floor, shelves and general mess... yet, feeling restless knowing that I need to do what needs to be done!!!
Anyhoo, here's a share.
And another at the Scotch (TM) 3M website:

Happy Thursday :)

Still playing...

Still having fun making stuff for no immediate reason... just for fun and loving it :)
Also working on updating supplies and reorganizing the studio, falling in love with papers, trinkets and paints all over again...

Paint is magical, I tell ya!!!
Also planning to try out a few techniques that's swirling up a storm in my mind... you know, the kinds that won't let you fall asleep at night... still mentally refining them.
But first, need to finish cleaning up and getting things ready for school to start next week.
Happy Monday :)

A new share

I haven't been too bloggy (no, it's not a real word, but you know what I mean, don't you?) this summer... just letting go and letting things flow here...
However, I did several CHA projects most of which I can't share here... yet!
But here's one I can and so here it is :)

The lovelies I played with in this layout are from Crate Paper's School Spirit collection.
If you are lucky to be going to CHA, try to stop by the Crate Paper booth to feast your eyes on this collection in real life.

Off to daydreaming my friends :)

An easy tutorial for a simple summer project

I posted a tutorial over at the Cocoa Daisy blog. You can use the same basics to create an album for any theme really.
Just finished up a bunch of CHA projects and now need to clean my room up. It is out of control and I'm having to do advanced level gymnastics to reach my work table!!!
The kids have become so dark this summer... all that sun and chlorine! It's CRAZY hot here...
Hope summer's treating you well and you are keeping cool :)
