Hello and welcome to the Color Happy Online Classroom. My name is Mou Saha. I was born in India and grew up there. Marriage brought me to the United States some 14 years ago. I was a Clinical Psychologist by profession till I chose to stay home and raise my children.
I have always enjoyed making things with my hands. As a child, I won many sit-and-draw art contests and had my creations exhibited in various national and international galleries along with art created by children from all over the world. I enjoyed a national art scholarship from the Centre of Cultural Resources and Training under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India from 1987 - 1999.
The year 2005 was a turning point in my creative journey as I made a decision to take creating beyond hobby. I started scrapbooking as it gave me much needed creative release while documenting the birth, development, and delightful everyday moments of my children. This was also the time I began to be published in magazines like Somerset Memories, Creating Keepsakes, Card Maker, Paper Crafts, Scrapbooks, Etc. and more. Winning the Hall of Fame contest organized by Creating Keepsakes magazine in 2007 paved the way for me to eventually become a contributing writer for them. I also began designing for manufacturers like Faber-Castell, Tim Holtz, Sizzix, Chartpak, Scotch 3M, Anna Griffin, Die Cuts with a View, 7 Gypsies, October Afternoon, and others. My workshops expanded from my local scrapbook store through Creating Keepsakes University and various creative events around the States, all the way to Paris, France.
In the meantime, my creative focus had begun to shift more toward mixed media art. I have been making collages for as long as I can remember. As I started exploring mixed media, my love for collages took on a new meaning. Around 2010, I began sharing the skills I learned at online workshop sites like Big Picture Classes, Donna Downey's Internationally Inspired 2, Online Card classes for Tim Holtz, and more. Eventually, I felt there were ideas, techniques, and projects I wanted to share that didn't always fall in the set categories of other sites. With two active kids and a baby on the way, traveling to teach seemed increasingly difficult. That's when the concept of Color Happy Online Classroom began to take shape in my mind.
With Color Happy, my goal is primarily to enable fellow creatives to connect or reconnect with their inner artists whom they might have repressed as they moved beyond childhood. The projects you'll see on Color Happy are meant to be starting points for your own creative exploration. The techniques you learn from me will enrich your creative repertoire beyond the workshop you're taking with me.
I look forward to you joining me in the Color Happy Online Classroom :)
