Recently, I have been to Arizona and California and saw many a cacti. Some were as tall as three-story buildings! Some had the most exotic blooms. I was inspired by the variety of colors and thorn patterns and their names. When I saw Jen Long's Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 7PK - Card, Cactus Fold-a-Long, I was excited to create my own cactus card!
If you wish to create a card like mine, here's a list of the supplies for you:
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 7PK - Card, Cactus Fold-a-Long
Sizzix Big Shot Machine Only (White & Gray)
Sizzix Accessory - Standard Magnetic Platform for Wafer-Thin Dies
Sizzix Accessory - Cutting Pads, Standard, 1 Pair (Mint)
Other: 12" x12" white cardstock, adhesive, 9" x 12" watercolor paper, Gelatos colors, pen
Let's get started!
Fold 12" x 12" white cardstock in half.
To die-cut the Cactus, Fold -A-Long card, create the following Sizzix Sandwich: on Sizzix Accessory - Standard Magnetic Platform for Wafer-Thin Dies, place another Sizzix Accessory - Cutting Pads, Standard, 1 Pair (Mint). On the Standard Cutting Pad, lay the folded cardstock. Place the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 7PK - Card, Cactus Fold-a-Long card base die, blade-side down, on the cardstock, making sure the central cutting line falls outside the fold line of the cardstock. Cover with the other Standard Cutting Pad and pass the entire Sizzix Sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.
Repeat this with the sheet of watercolor.
This is what your die-cut Cactus Fold-a-Long card base will look like.
Fold along the scorelines of your card.
Your closed up card will look like this.
To die-cut the embellishments, create the following Sizzix Sandwich: on the Standard Magnetic Platform for Wafer-Thin Dies, place a Standard Cutting Pad, on it lay watercolor paper. Place the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 7PK - Card, Cactus Fold-a-Long embellishment dies, blade-side down on the paper and cover with the other Standard Cutting Pad. Pass the Sizzix Sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.
Cut out the outer flaps of the Cactus card base that you die-cut earlier. These pieces will give some extra strength to your interactive card.
Start coloring these pieces with Gelatos colors. You can make the colors realistic or imaginary.
Next, attach the embellishments to the sentiment block.
Insert the sentiment block into the slot. Add details with pen.
Attach the additional flaps to the card.
Here's my finished Cactus Fold-A-Long card, closed up.
