Spring is in the Air!

How is the weather like where you are?

Feels like it's warming up here slowly. We are seeing such pretty birds in the yard, singing. There are a few bunnies hopping across the neighborhood backyards. There's been rain. The bulbs are starting to sprout. Spring is in the air in Chester!

The scenes outside inspired me to make a card to send home to my parents. They still get excited to get handmade things from me and the kids, just as they used to when I was in kindergarten!

So, let's jump in and see how this card came together using these fresh Sizzix Clear Stamps - Birds & Phrases, Sweet Baby, and Alphabet by Lynda Kanase along with the Basic Step-Ups Card by Stephanie Barnard.

Here's a look at the stamp sets. You would be amazed at how beautifully detailed these stamps are! While the sets are complete  by themselves, you can easily combine them to make something uniquely you.

Start by stamping the bunnies from the Sweet Baby set and the Birds and 'Just For You' phrase from the Birds & Phrases set on cardstock using a permanent ink pad. It's really important to use a permanent inkpad if you plan on using wet colors on your stamped images to keep them from getting smudged.

I have used watercolors to paint my birds, vines and bunnies. You can also use dry mediums like coloring pencils to color.

Cut the images out with detail scissors. Don't be afraid to alter an image during cutting like I took one of the small birds and some leaves off the vine.

Now, you diecut the card base. For that, create this Sizzix Sandwich: on Sizzix Accessory - Standard Magnetic Platform for Wafer-Thin Die, lay another Sizzix Accessory - Cutting Pad, Standard. Lay the cardstock on the Cutting Pad and the base die from the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 21PK - Card, Basic Step-Ups blade-side down on it. Cover with the other Standard Cutting Pad and pass the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.

Fold along the crease lines to create the Basic Step-Ups Card.

Color the card base - blue for sky and green for grass. Let dry.

Attach the sentiment and create a scene around it by attaching the birds, vines and bunnies with foam dots for dimension.

At this point, it starts to look a bit like a children's story book!

Now, create the inside sentiment by stamping the Alphabets. Cut out the block and attach inside to finish.

Hope you liked today's card and tutorial! Grab these clear stamp sets and have fun this spring!
