A new year, a new journal

Hi everyone! It's a new year and a great time to start a new creative venture. I'm starting a sketch journal.

For this project, I used:
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Mini Journal Board
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Textural Accent: Gesso
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils: 108, 115 (YELLOW set); 156, 168 (GREEN set); 131, 176,187, 234, 276 (NEUTRAL set)
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Deluxe Waterbrush

The steps are really simple here. Let me walk you through.

I started with the Mini Journal Board.

Applied a coat of gesso to prime the board.

Inspired by a hexagon rug I had seen, I doodled random polygons and colored them in with Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils.

Using a Deluxe Waterbrush, I blended the colors a bit and wrote January at the base to mark the first month.
I'm sure you all are going to see more of this journal from me in coming months :)

A share from CHA

Nope, I'm absolutely sitting at home... I'm not at CHA. I'm enjoying my new baby and checking my social media feeds to see fresh eye candy from CHA. But here is a layout I did for Tim Holtz for Sizzix for the show. Again, I love scrapbooking: mixing my love of family with my love of creating!

Lunch box Love note with Sizzix

Hi everyone! Hope your new year is off to a great start and so is your crafting! It's busy here with the baby and other household things. That makes me look forward to crafting time even more. Here's a lunch box love note I made recently using the Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die Album, Bread.

To create this love note, I used:
Ranger Distress Ink pads: Tea Dye, Worn Lipstick
Ranger Ink blending tool
Adhesive
Calligraphy pen
Cardstock

Cut a strip of cardstock. Sandwich it between the two cutting pads and lay it on the extended multipurpose platform. Pass it through the Big Shot machine to diecut the bread album.

Color the end parts with Worn Lipstick Distress ink.

Color the album with Tea Dye Distress ink.

Splatter a little water on the pieces to activate the Distress inks.

Attach the two end pieces to the album with adhesive.

Write a love note or a love quote with a calligraphy pen in your best handwriting. Tuck it into a lunch box or snack pack to brighten a loved one's day :)
