Hello cardmakers, Mou here welcoming you to my blog on Day 9 of the CardMaker Magazine and Sizzix Blog Hop! The CardMaker Magazine and Sizzix Blog Hop is featuring one new cardmaking project every single day from June 1-13 using cardmaking dies by Stephanie Barnard. If you came here from Patti Gilliam's blog, then you are totally in the right place!
Today I have a baby card for you using Framelits and Triplits dies by Stephanie Barnard along with Sizzix machine and accessories. You can use it for baby showers, announcements, to congratulate new parents or even to send thanks for a baby gift! Let me tell you how to make this versatile card.
Trim patterned paper to 6" wide x 9" long.
Create a Sizzix sandwich in the following order: Lay a Standard Cutting Pad on the Standard Magnetic Platform for Wafer-Thin Dies. Lay the patterned paper on the Standard Cutting Pad. Lay the card base die from Friends Forever Step-up card set, blade-side down on the patterned paper and cover with a second Standard Cutting Pad. Pass the entire sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine to diecut the card base. The strong magnets of the Magnetic Platform will hold the die in place allowing for a neat and precise cut.
To diecut the other elements to embellish the card, such as the Spring Bird, the onesie, duckie, and the sentiment from Oh Baby set, the wavy bar from the Friends Forever Step-up card set, follow the same Sizzix sandwich described above. Cut the bases out of cardstock and the stacking layers from coordinating patterned papers. You can use up your scraps here. Using the Magnetic Platform let's you get all of these die-cuts in a single pass as you can arrange your papers and dies on the Magnetic Platform without having to worry about the dies moving during the passage through the Big Shot machine.
Next, stack the layering pieces and glue together to create the Spring Bird (1+3), the onesie (1+3+6), and the sentiment (11+12+13+14).
Fold the Friends Forever Step-up card base by first folding the card in half and then alternately valley and mountain folding to create the steps.
Attach the Spring bird to the bottom left part of the card overlooking the steps in the center.
Add the sentiment near the middle of the right half of the card.
Attach the wavy bar at the top fold to create a hanging place for the onesie. Hang the onesie with two mini clothespins to finish.
Here's a close-up of the card.
