Dress up a banner

Don't you love a blank canvas ready for you to decorate any way you want? How about a banner? That's exactly what this Big Banner die by Lori Whitlock from Sizzix gives you - a blank canvas or burlap or chipboard... well, you get the idea! Here's a banner I made out of printed cardstock and decorated with stickers and ribbons. Let me tell you how I made it in layers.

Choose your substrate, be it canvas, paper, chipboard, etc. Create a Sizzix sandwich: place your substrate on the blade side of the Banner die and place these pieces between two Sizzix Accessory Standard Cutting Pads. Run the sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine to diecut the banner.

Here are a few pieces of my diecut banner.

Before starting to decorate, I stitched two banner pieces together to give it some extra body. I decorated my banner with layers of patterned and foiled cardstocks.
Stitch the paper layers at the top keeping the bottom parts unattached.

Attach a floral ribbon across the tag. Tie another ribbon into a bow and attach below the floral ribbon.

Add a chalkboard sentiment sticker and a 3D floral sticker to embellish further.
Punch two holes in the two top corners. Thread a ribbon through the holes and tie knots to hold it in place. And your banner is ready whether you use it to spruce up a gift or use as d├ęcor or any other way you like!

Here are the tools and materials I used:
Others: Patterned cardstock, adhesive, ribbons, stickers, thread, sewing machine, hole punch

Hope you enjoyed the mini tutorial and thanks for stopping by!
