A Magnolia

Magnolias are in full bloom all around here... the big white flowers and their intoxicating fragrance fill the nights when we sometimes hang out by the pool in the back porch. They inspired me to create a little collage.

To create this collage, I used:
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Aquarelle Art Grip Pencils: 144, 153 (BLUE set); 151 (GREEN set); 119, 126, 136 (RED set)
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Stamper's Big Brush pens: Light Cobalt Turquoise 154, Skyblue 146, Cobalt Turquoise 153, Manganese Violet 160, Magenta 133, May Green 170, Permanent Green Olive 167

Let me walk you through the steps.

Prep your page with Gesso.

Sketch your inspiration with pencil.

Color around the sketch with watercolor pencils.

Blend the colors with waterbrush.

Add colors and details to the sketch with Stamper's Big Brush pens.

Attach bits and pieces of tissues and book paper with Gel Medium around the flower.

Tone down the prints and areas of intense colors with a bit of Gesso to finish.
Here's a close up

Fun, isn't it? What would you create with inspiration that's surrounds you?

The dot/lines defying pens are a great accent. Thanks
