Stamps + dies + magnetic platform = card

Hello everyone, here's a Sizzix tutorial for you.

I made this card using
Others: Cardstock, Archival Ink pad Jet Black by Ranger, Adhesive, Gelatos by Faber-Castell Desig Memory Craft
Here are the steps:

Stamp chosen images on cardstock using Archival Jet Black ink.

Lay the cardstock piece on cutting platform over the Magnetic Platform for Wafer-Thin DiesArrange the dies over the stamped images, layer the second cutting platform on top and run it through the Big Shot Machine.

Repeat the above step if you need multiples of any image.

Arrange and attach the pieces on a card as shown.

Color the card with Gelatos and blend the colors with a wet brush. Here's a closer look.

Hope you enjoyed the mini tutorial. Thanks for stopping by :)

Double Scoop anyone?

What would you do if you got Gelatos® in double the size? I'd use them on bigger projects I thought. Here's an 18" x 24" canvas created with Double Scoop Gelatos®, some Gesso, Gel Medium, and Glaze.

Let me show you some step photos I took while creating this canvas.

I attached some tissue paper to the canvas using Gel Medium. When dry, I applied a wash of Gesso to mute the tissue patterns a bit and to prime the surface for painting. I did a quick sketch of a bottle with a stem of flower. I used Gelatos® to create layers and layers of colors, blending each layer with Glaze till it looked close enough to what I had envisioned. I used Gel Medium to add pieces of diecuts to the bottle to make it look a bit like a vase. I also typed up my thoughts, printed them, cut them in strips and added them next to the vase. I added water to some parts after coloring with Gelatos®  and held the canvas up to let the colors drip down. Here's a closer look.

I think you'll love playing with these longer-lasting-double-the-delight Gelatos® twice as much!
Thanks for stopping by :)

CHA 2014 share # 1

Now that the show is open, I guess it would be okay to post a project I did for the Ranger Challenge using Tim Holtz's newest Distress Paints. Of course, I have also used Tim's newest Idea-o-logy papers, rubs, embellishments, etc., stencil, inks, and Sizzix dies on this 11 x 14 canvas. I'm loving the Found Relatives cards so much. Each one is the beginning of a story you can tell :)

Take the Challenge with Mou, January 2014 at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft

Hi everyone, Mou here and welcome to the first 'Take the Challenge' of 2014!

If you are new to this blog, let me fill you in about Take the Challenge. Every month, on the first Monday, I'll post a challenge and my take on it. You'll have 12 days to take this on. Leave a comment to the challenge post with a link to your creation based on that challenge. The following Monday, we will pick TWO winners randomly from among the readers who participated in that week's challenge. And the winners will get a prize from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®.

It's a brand new year! New things to try, changes to make, resolutions to stick to, another refreshing beginning in an ongoing journey that's life, a time to do something we haven't done in a long time. I haven't painted for a really long time, almost 11 years and I miss it. To make that revisiting process easier, I picked an inspiration piece by one of my favorite artists, Henri Matisse and decided to paint a face. Not in canvas, not yet, but on a journal page.
And here's your challenge: Pick an art piece and let it inspire you to create.

Here's my inspiration piece by Matisse.

Doing a self portrait based on a selfie I took.

Here's the basic sketch.

Working with Design Memory Craft Gelatos®, a lot of skin tones from the Neutrals, Yellow, and Red sets. And of course, some Blues and Greens as well.

Blending the Gelatos® colors with Gesso and Glaze.

Keeping on working and re-working...

And here's the finished spread. For the journaling part, I used Stamper's Big Brush pen BLACK and PITT Artist pens (S & B)

Don't forget to share your challenge creations with us... just leave a comment to the challenge post with link to your project image(s) by Friday, 1/17 and we will pick TWO winners randomly to win these.

The prizes for this challenge are: Two sets of 4 ct Gelatos® in the colors of your choice.
Don't forget to check back on Monday, 1/20  to see if YOU won!
Good luck to all and be inspired!
